You get a story! And you get a story! And you get a story!
I’m not exactly the Oprah of submissions, but it’s felt a little like it recently. Mostly, I’ve been inspired, and inspired means writing! So I tipped my head over to one side and let the words fall out.
And it’s been swell. But now the swelling’s gone down.
Future projects include going back to finish the elvish fantasy novel I started writing for my kids last Christmas. I plan to “publish” it on Amazon for the author’s copy and present them with the book this year. Or perhaps another POD service.
I also plan to read more. My reading habits have been sporadic and unfocused. I want to kick back a little bit and immerse myself in someone else’s words for a change. Maybe even pop out a few reviews. Mister King always seeks to remind us that to be a better writer you should write a lot and read a lot. I’ve certainly been doing the former, now it’s time for me to explore the latter.
I’ve also been inspired to do some audiobook reading – for fun not profit, but also maybe for some pocket money too. I wonder how my Yorkshire/Leicester/Kiwi accent will be received? (Of course, I could also read in my “teacher voice”, but that might be a hard one to maintain.)
And you know, this is me. I doubt it will be too long before I get bitten (mauled!) by the story writing bug again.
I shall leave you with a brilliant poem by Bo Burnham, which my kids reminded me of recently.
